Malaysia, a top destination for retirement
10 good reasons why you should choose Malaysia as your dream destination to retire.
1. Malaysia has a very good infrastructure, one of the best in south-east asia. The highways are in good condition, there are several airport in the country which connect you to the world, or take the train from the Thailand boarder across Malaysia to Singapore in the south.
2. The cost of living is very low, you can afford things and service you could only dream about in your homecountry. Take the cost of a taxi ride for example, accross the city of Kuala Lumpur it will cost you RM 15 only, in western countries you would have to pay 10 times that much. Or a simple but delicat local dish at a hawker stall you can get for RM 3 only, go to a western restaurant in Kuala Lumpur and you pay RM 25 for a delicous menue only.
3. The language is not a big problem either, English is widely spoken in Malaysia. The signs are mostly in English and Bahasa Malaysia too. Another advantage, the letters are readable, unlike in Thailand for example.
4. The weather, it is warm all year round, the climate is tropical climate with 12 hours of sunshine a day and only short, but heavy rain and thunderstorm interuptions. You can enjoy outside living all the time, but for newcommers I would honestly recommend the morning and evening hours for outside activities and enjoy, for example, shopping while it is hot outside.
5. The political system in Malaysia is democratic and stable. Malaysia has a prime minister, which is free elected and also a king, which represents Malaysia to the world.
6. Malaysian people friendly, helpful and have a smile for everybody. Here you get local friends easlily and expats are very welcome.
7. The visa arangements for tourists with a visa on arrival and 90 days are generous. If you want to retire choose "Malaysia My Second Home" after approval you can get a resident visa for 10 years, which you can prolong later.
8. Malaysia provides good education, also many private international schools and kindergartens for foreigners.
9. Foreigners are allowed to rent or buy property as well. The rental prices are very affordable, even in the mayor city of Kuala Lumpur.
10. Last but not least, Malaysia is a peaceful and secure country, according to a statistic of the organisation "Vision of Humanty", Malaysia belongs to the 30 peaceful countries on earth.
